Brown-banded cockroach

Brown-banded cockroaches are about 1/2 inch long and light brown with distinctive light brown bands across their bodies. Both males and females have wings, but they prefer to run rather than fly. Unlike other roaches, they prefer warmer, drier locations.

Look for fecal droppings (small, dark specks) and shed skins in hidden areas like closets, behind picture frames, and inside electronics. You may also find their tan-colored egg capsules (oothecae) attached to furniture or walls. A musty odor may also indicate a large infestation in your Myrtle Beach home.
