Mosquito & Biting Insect Treatment
Enjoy your Grand Strand yard again with our seasonal mosquito and biting insect control program. Monthly treatments target breeding sites and resting areas to dramatically reduce mosquito and sand gnat populations.
Overview
What You Need to Know
Mosquitoes and sand gnats thrive in Myrtle Beach's subtropical coastal climate, making effective control essential for enjoying the outdoors. Our location on the Grand Strand features sandy soils, salt marshes, and tidal creeks, creating abundant breeding grounds. Our seasonal program targets these pests using barrier sprays, larvicide treatments, and habitat reduction strategies to significantly reduce populations, so you can relax without the constant swatting and itching. Protect yourself from mosquito-borne illnesses and the persistent annoyance of sand gnats from March through November.

Treatment Overview
We target mosquitoes and sand gnats at all life stages in Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. Barrier sprays are applied to vegetation, palmetto trees, and shaded areas to eliminate adult mosquitoes. Larvicide treatments in standing water prevent new adults from hatching. We also provide habitat reduction recommendations to minimize breeding sites on your property. Our proactive approach helps maintain a comfortable outdoor environment from March through November.
How It Works
Our Treatment Process
Property assessment identifying breeding sites, resting areas, and high-traffic zones
Barrier spray application to shrubs, trees, fences, and shaded areas where mosquitoes rest
Larvicide treatment in standing water that cannot be drained (bird baths, gutters, catch basins, drainage ditches)
Sand gnat suppression around marsh-adjacent areas and outdoor living spaces
Habitat reduction recommendations: drainage improvements, vegetation management
Monthly re-treatment throughout the season (March–November)
What to Expect
Key Information
Barrier Spray Treatment
Our barrier spray targets the areas where mosquitoes rest during the day: the undersides of leaves, shrub interiors, fence lines, under decks, and other shaded areas. The product kills mosquitoes on contact and leaves a residual that continues working for 3–4 weeks. We use backpack mist blowers for precise application, ensuring thorough coverage without drift into non-target areas. The product is derived from chrysanthemum flowers and breaks down naturally in sunlight.
Larvicide & Sand Gnat Suppression
Standing water is where mosquitoes breed — even a bottle cap of water can produce hundreds of mosquitoes. We treat all standing water that can't be drained with BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis), a naturally occurring bacterium that kills mosquito larvae but is safe for fish, birds, pets, and humans. Common treatment sites include bird baths, clogged gutters, French drains, retention ponds, and decorative water features. For sand gnats, we apply targeted treatments to damp soil and organic debris near marsh edges and shaded landscape beds where no-see-ums breed.
Special Event Treatments
Hosting an outdoor wedding at a Grand Strand venue, a graduation party, or a family beach house reunion? We offer one-time event treatments applied 24–48 hours before your event. The barrier spray provides effective mosquito and sand gnat control for 2–3 weeks, ensuring your guests can enjoy the outdoors without constant swatting. Event treatments can be booked as a standalone service or added to your seasonal program.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Mosquito & Biting Insect Treatment
We recommend staying off treated areas until the spray dries, typically 30–45 minutes. Once dry, the product is bonded to leaf surfaces and poses no risk to people or pets walking through treated areas. We schedule treatments in the morning so the product has time to dry and bind before afternoon use.
Yes. Sand gnats are a major nuisance along the Grand Strand, especially near the marsh, Intracoastal Waterway, and in shaded landscape areas. Our barrier treatment significantly reduces sand gnat activity in your yard. We also target their breeding sites in damp soil and organic debris. While no treatment can eliminate every sand gnat (they breed in vast marsh areas beyond any property line), our clients report dramatic improvement in their outdoor comfort.
We take pollinator safety seriously. Our technicians are trained to avoid treating flowering plants, and we time applications for early morning when pollinators are least active. The products we use break down rapidly in sunlight (within 24 hours on exposed surfaces), minimizing impact on non-target insects. If you have active beehives on your property, please let us know so we can adjust our treatment plan.
Yes. One-time event treatments are available and provide 2–3 weeks of protection. However, the seasonal monthly program delivers significantly better results because mosquitoes continuously re-colonize from neighboring properties and coastal marshes. Monthly treatments break the breeding cycle on your property and maintain consistent protection throughout our long coastal season.
